I had the honor to travel to Afghanistan in May of 2002 as a member of a delegation of young Afghan-Americans working on reconstruction. I returned home after 2 weeks but like Jason Elliot, my heart stayed behind. I returned in June 2003 to work on a project to improve conditions for the women in Kabul prison, in March 2004 to work in maternity hospitals, in June 2004 to teach preserving, and spent most of 2005 living there working as the logistics manager for the Kabul Beauty School. I returned in February 2006 and now live in Kabul full time working on women's projects. I love to do speaking engagements to show slides and tell stories about my trips. Here are upcoming events, please contact me if you would like a presentation for your group.
There is so much we can do to help in Afghanistan - a little goes a long way. I've established a non-profit organization called ...a little help to get aide directly to the women and girls in Afghanistan who really need it. Your donation will be put to excellent use, I promise! Find out more about how you can help. Thank you for visiting this site, be sure to check out the photos, resources for additional information, and the great media coverage these trips have received. And please drop me a note - I'd love to hear from you!
