Autumn Chutney[Printer-friendly version of recipe]
1 pound plums - pitted and chopped
1 pound pears - cored and chopped very small
1 pound apples - cored and chopped very small
1 & 1/3 cup golden seedless raisins
1 & 1/2 cup onions - chopped very small
Juice of 1 orange and finely grated peel
2 & 1/2 cups cider vinegar
1 & 3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Bring all ingredients EXCEPT sugar and spices to a boil and then cook gently for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add sugar and spices and cook gently until the liquid is mostly gone and the chutney is thick. (note to self - how long was this?)

After filling jars, return to a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. Take out and allow to cool. Jars should seal within the hour.
Yield: 8 8-oz jars
