Tomato-Apple Chutney[Printer-friendly version of recipe]
6 cups chopped tomatoes
6 cups chopped apples (chopped very small)
3/4 cup chopped green pepper - chopped small
1&1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup seedless golden raisins
2 teaspoons salt
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups cider vinegar
1/2 cup mixed pickling spices - tied up in cheesecloth
Bring all ingredients to a boil and then cook gently for about 1&1/2 hours, stirring frequently. The tomatoes pieces should be gone and the apples very soft.

After filling jars, return to a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. Take out and allow to cool. Jars should seal within the hour.
Yield: 11 8-oz jars
